Broadcasters opt for Flashnet

CNBC Asia and CNBC Europe have installed FlashNet, SGL’s scalable content management system.

The installations at the headquarters of CNBC Asia in Singapore and CNBC Europe in London are identical. FlashNet is integrated with Grass Valley’s Stratus production suite and manages a SpectraLogic T680 tape library. Access to the SGL archive is gained via Grass Valley’s toolset. The CNBC Asia project is part of a major upgrade whilst the installation at CNBC Europe provides a new archive environment.

The combined SGL and Grass Valley solution enables operators to work collaboratively and accomplish tasks simultaneously. It also allows support for GXF partial file restore; an important feature for Grass Valley customers. Editors can select clips for the archive or restore from the SGL archive via Stratus, are able to view low-res proxies of material held in the archive, and mark in and out points to restore just part of clips.
