Sky Online provides a range of premium content, including live sports, blockbuster movies, series, kids programming, documentaries and sports news. This latest development gives subscribers another way of accessing the best content selection in Germany and Austria premium content.
Developed using Accedo XDK, Accedo’s cross-platform development toolkit, Sky has been able to efficiently extend the existing app to these new platforms. Accedo XDK also reduces maintenance costs over time for multiplatform deployments such as this.
“Sky Deutschland is leading the way in Germany for making premium content available on multiple platforms,” commented Michael Lantz, CEO, Accedo. “The combination of Sky’s premium content, local knowledge and understanding, existing customer base, and multiplatform availability makes it a compelling offering for consumers.”
“Having launched Sky Online, together with Accedo, on Samsung and LG Smart TVs, as well as the Sky Online TV Box, we are particularly excited to extend the reach of Sky Online to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Now we are offering the gaming community the opportunity to enjoy their favourite TV content on their favourite game console, directly on their TV screen,” commented Alice Mascia, Executive Vice President, Sky Deutschland.
Sky Online for PlayStation 4 was launched on May 31, with the PlayStation 3 service launched on June 8.
