Universal Electronics - Leadership Change

Menno Koopmans succeeds Paul Bennett as Senior Vice President

The Universal Electronics Inc. has announced that Menno Koopmans has been appointed to the role of Senior Vice President and Managing Director for EMEA from January on.

Koopmans has worked at Universal Electronics for over 11 years in various product, marketing and sales leadership roles, both in the business-to-consumer and business-to-business segments. His new role sees him reporting into Universal Electronics’ Chief Operating Officer, Louis Hughes, who is based at the company’s corporate headquarters in Santa Ana, CA, and is responsible for all global commercial, engineering and manufacturing activities.

Koopmans says: “The industry has changed dramatically in the 11 years that I’ve been working for Universal Electronics, and 2017 looks set to be a really exciting time for the company with plenty of opportunities for growth and innovation.”

Koopmans appointment comes after the news that the previous Executive Vice President and Managing Director for EMEA, Paul Bennett, stepped down from the role on December 31, 2016, after 20 years of active service at Universal Electronics. Bennett has made a considerable contribution to the company’s growth and will continue to be involved, focusing his efforts on special projects.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Electronics, Paul Arling, says: “We all wish Paul the best of luck in his new role, and we couldn’t have asked for anyone more talented and competent than Menno to succeed him. For over a decade, Menno has played a really vital part in the company’s growth, and over the last three years he’s helped transform our subscription broadcast business to become the market leader in smart remote controls. I’m looking forward to continuing our work together and striving for excellence.”
